Path Defender is a kit containing following items:
- One motherboard with three female connectors
- Two ring-shaped printed circuits with LED
- Two orange bulbs
- Two optical pieces in replacement of your turn signal covers ("bullet" shape, since 2001)
- Three wire sets, featuring respectively 2, 3 and 6 ways male connectors, to be plugged on the motherboard.
Each front turn signal receives a ring-shaped printed circuit, allowing
room for the bulb and carrying nine white, ultra bright, LED's.
The LED's are driven as to frequency (if you wrap the antenna around a
spark plug wire) and luminosity by the motherboard, which shall be
preferably situated under the saddle. Both functions are transmitted
through wires connecting the motherboard to respectively the wire
directly connected to the turn signal bulbs and the light sensor.
Installation of the Path Defender kit:
1) Turn signals
Remove the front turn signals caps and bulbs.
Put each ring-shaped printed circuit in its turn signal, and check that
the round end of the soft printed circuit is properly applied against
the bulb socket, the soft circuit being horizontal and pointing to your
right when looking at the socket ("at 3 o'clock").
Insert the orange bulb in the socket. The bulb terminal rests against
the half-moon metallic surface of the soft circuit. CAUTION: the
opposite side (full metallic circle) must absolutely be in contact with
the socket, in the turn signal bottom.
Clip the optic part onto the ring-shaped printed circuit and press both
parts on the turn signal. The long facets must be vertical; the short
perpendicular facets must be at the bottom.
The bulbs function normally, driven by the turn signal module, which is
not electrically connected to the Go Optics! motherboard.
2) Motherboard (about 65 x 25 x 10 mm)
Place the motherboard under the seat or in another weather-protected
place, close to the battery. Turn the battery terminal bolts anti
clockwise put the three-way connector terminals on the battery
terminals, CONFORMING TO THE USUAL COLORS: RED ON THE PLUS, BLACK ON
THE "GROUND". The red wire (battery +) is protected by a fuse. Turn the
battery terminal bolts clockwise.
This connector must be the last plugged on the motherboard.
3) Both other harnesses
A – 2-way connector wires
These wires carry the signal to the LED's inside the turn signals. They
connect the Path Defender motherboard to the wire DIRECTLY connected to
the turn signal bulb.
These wires are turn signal specific. Depending on your motorcycle
model, your turn signals are fitted with one filament
(European…) or two filament bulbs (US…). You must specify
your turn signals type in your order because of this wiring difference
between European and US models. CAUTION: Go Optics! has no liability
whatsoever in case of damages consecutive to not following this
instruction.
On the US models, Path Defender wires have a male terminal, which you
connect to the (blue) wire DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE TURN SIGNAL. This
wire must imperatively be disconnected from its plug on the bike.
Forgetting or neglecting this operation will destroy Path Defender and
cancel the warranty.
On the single filament models, the Path Defender wires show a wire
segment to be interposed between the motorcycle connector and the
violet wire DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE TURN SIGNAL.
B – 6-way connector wires
The thin wire is the antenna. If you wish to use the LED's in motor rev
related flashing mode (automatic LED frequency matching to your drive
style in order to indicate your speed changes on the most efficient
way), wrap the antenna one turn around one spark plug wire. If you
prefer to use the LED's in the continuous light mode, just wind the
antenna in the available space under your seat.
The other wire is connected to the light sensor, which you will lead to
a place exposed to daylight, e.g. the front suspension or simply on
your seat side (at a place without shade from your legs or another
surface). This sensor must be installed on a proper way for automatic
LED's adaptation to ambient light. Reducing lighting power at night is
very important not to dazzle other drivers.
Plug the three connectors on the motherboard, the battery connector
last. The LED's light up for a few seconds and turn themselves off.
Path Defender is only waiting for your engine to start. The LED's are
turned off a few seconds after the engine stops running, telling you
the board is in low consumption mode.
